I made a Terranigma! I don't know how to draw Mode 7 so I drew this instead.

Get your SNES on!

Awesome work.  Terranigma is a fantastic game.  It's really sad that more people haven't played this and Illusion of Gaia through!

Thanks! It's very sad indeed, but, at least they feel more special that way.

It's like when you thought you were the only one that knew about Final Fantasy but then the internet happened, and also popularity, and then that whole series snowballed out of control.

You have insane skills at backgrounds - just the amount of details alone on the crystals in the background are amazing.

One voice says "red hair." Another voice says "BLASPHEMY, THAT IS ORANGE." The other voice replies "ORANGE STILL COUNTS." At least we all agree that the picture is awesome, though. Great work, as always^^

Oh wow, this is eerie.  I'm listening to the soundtrack at this exact moment (the credit roll, my poor heart!), and suddenly, here's Ark!  He looks so pissed, I can imagine the things he's thinking (about the village elder's inane tasks).  XD

I DON'T WANT TO BE A BIRD, waaaaah.

Dunno know how inane bringing all the continents back from the depths is but the other stuff sucks. (I wonder how a virus sinks land masses...)

Ain't that the way it always goes. Makes me not want to save the world as much.

I'm sure Ark could have tried that, Baruga would have accidentally fallen into fan blades anyway or something.

Man, I can already hear that unforgettable music in my head after leaving Crysta for the first time. Ark looks so pissed in this picture (but I suppose getting exiled from his hometown can do that to a man). The game was like the love child of Soulblazer and Illusion of Gaia, and had the best of both worlds. What a stupid tragedy that Quintet fell apart after this.

Thanks for the resurrected memories. ;)

That's what Ark gets for opening that box that the elder totally didn't want him to open at all that he tried so hard to hide behind a door you could only smash open because if anyone ever found it it would ruin his plans for... uh... wait...

I have no idea what they could have accomplished after this but at least they went off on a very high note. Maybe they needed more two-day weekends...

Terranigma on the Super Famicom, it made it as far as Europe but never hit North American shores. Worth checking out, it's the final of the trilogy including Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia (Illusion of Time in PAL regions).

Ah man, I wish they'd bring this over on the Virtual Console.  Freakin' LOVED this game!  I'd grab a physical copy if it wasn't so expensive.

But hey, ART!  I love it, man!  Also one of the stand-out moments of the game.  I mean, it's right at the beginning, but I like how it starts with this freaky underworld and all these questions.

That's probably about the only way to let the world know that it exists... even if I've never bought a virtual console game before (Well, except Ambassador Program crap).

Hey, man, starting off a game with Mode 7 is a good way to get your attention. Thanks for the interest! I like lots of things about it as well. I was trying to explain how I enjoyed the use of simple concepts to get me emotionally invested and I used leading-the-little-lion-cub-around as an example, i.e. being stuck at the bottom of the cliff listening to him fighting then BAM followed by silence. I was like noooooooo! Then I was like, awww. Then I tried to make out with the game because it's hot.

"Emotionally invested" are certainly the words for this game!  you already linked to the underworld theme (one of my favorites) but those sequences at the end of every underworld tower - and the accompanying music (www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS8pHm…) - always freakin' gets me.  I think my favorite part of the game will always be the world before humans, though.  Wandering around the empty world and bringing back all the animals 'n plants 'n such.  Almost felt a little lonely when the humans came back and you lose your ability to talk to the animals.

*sniff* I miss this game!  I should play it again.  Bring out all the feels.  I'ma clean it off first though, since you been all makin' out with it.  (I'm joking, it was a beautiful moment, man).

I thought Eurasia was a silly name for a fantasy world but when I got to the other towers and they started saying North America and Africa I was like... OOOOOH (Side note, I like when you visit the programmer for those resurrection scenes at Quintet in Neo Tokio, and all they say is something like "...............I'm lonely." That and the Graphics team being comprised entirely out of penguins. Oh, Terranigma, you're whacky.) Yes, the nature parts were the best parts of the game for me too. The jump to technology after that was a little too abrupt... it gave me whiplash. 'Specially love when Eddy is trying to invent electricity and he's like "I'm trying to create a machine that makes this thing called electricity!" ...already fucking knowing what the name for the thing he hasn't invented yet is. Not being able to talk to animals was doubly sad after you modernized Australia and they got the zoo, going there and looking at the caged lions... and the little kid out there saying "It looks like they're crying!"... I was all like WHAT KIND OF A MONSTER HAVE I BECOOOOOOOME!!

The game is beautiful, no matter how much saliva gets on it.

Yes to all of that!  Quite yes.  If I continue, we'll just get further into a gush-fest, so I'll fervently agree and once again wish that this game was more well known.  And that I even had a copy to salivate on.

It's definitely one of those games that doesn't show all of its cards right off the bat, which seems to be the only way games can function today; desperately trying to keep your attention. I myself didn't play it for years because I kept getting bored before I could get to the fifth tower. Turns out that was a mistake.

I think a combination of school starting again and me getting freaked out when an overworld can be approached in multiple ways stopped me. It would be great to revisit. :)
